GROUNDWORK | Afro-Cuban w/ Oneysis Tony

We focus on the building blocks of Afro-Cuban Movement:

- History and breakdown of the Orishas, focusing on the following Orishas: 

• Eleguá or Elegguá or Eshu 
• Ochosi
• Palo
• Oshun
• Ogun
• Oya
• Yemaya

The weekend progresses as we build on these fundamentals. With detailed breakdowns and corrections throughout the weekend! 

Whether you are interested in Afro-Cuban Movement directly or are using it to enhance your Latin Dance technique, it is an amazing weekend to advance your skill set and well-roundedness of Latin Dance Movement.

• Shoulder and Hip Movement

  • 6:30p-8:30p History & Culture, Rhythms, Steps (Beginner/Experienced Beginner) 
• Saturday Training #2:
  • 10:30a-12:30p Elegua (Intermediate)
• Saturday Training #3: 
  • 1:30p-3:30p Chachalokafun - Yemaya & Oya (skirts needed) (Intermediate)
• Sunday Training #4:
  • 12:00p-2:00p Yemaya & Oya (skirts needed) (Intermediate)
• Sunday Training #5: 
  • 3:00p-5:00p Ogun (Intermediate)

About Oneysis Alvarez

Oneysis was born in New York and started dancing very young. He trained with Yamulee Dance company for 5 years and then headed to Guadalajara, Mexico to train with the Master, Ivan Valdespino! There he spent another 5 years training and studying the Orishas and has been teaching in the U.S. for the past three years!
