Travel instructions

The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is located within the Victoria University of Wellington, Kelburn Campus. Access is via Gate 7 on Kelburn Parade. There is no parking available on Campus, and limited street parking available on Glasgow Street or down the hill on Salamanca Road. We recommend that you travel by public transport or taxi/rideshare. A bus stop is close by on Kelburn Parade.

Entry instructions

Access to the Malaghan Institute through the university: Enter via Gate 7. As you enter the campus you will see a courtyard in front of a building, the Alan MacDiarmid Building. Look for sliding glass doors that are right beside a small cafe, enter through these doors. As you enter the building you will see a corridor directly in front of you (with a stair well on the left hand side). Continue down this corridor and through the glass doors you can see at the other end. As you exit the Alan MacDiarmid building, descend the stairs and then turn right. Head towards the building with the Malaghan Institute sign. The entry is via a tiled porch entry between the round part of the building and the row of 5 car parks along the wall. If you have difficulty finding the building, please contact Alix on the number provided and she will send someone to assist you.

After entry instructions

To enter the Institute you will need to ring the doorbell, and then sign in at reception. Please sign in with Alix Grooby or Kate Pilkington as your onsite contact. From the a staff member will guide you to our seminar room.

Hazards

The institute is accessible to those in a wheelchair, but transit through the Alan MacDiarmid building will not be an option. There is a single flight of stairs from the lobby to the seminar room. An elevator is available to those who would like assistance to the seminar room. Please speak with the receptionist on duty who can assist with a staff guide to provide secure access.

Toilet location

There is a bathroom in the lobby at the Malaghan Institute.

Accessible parking

If you require wheelchair access or assistance to reach the Institute, please email Alix Grooby (agrooby@malaghan.org.nz) in advance of the event and she will arrange parking out the front of the institute (or similar). Alternatively, you can come by rideshare/taxi directly to the Malaghan Institute entrance, from which point onwards the Institute is accessible.
