Grow Your Own - Chapel St Community Garden
Event description
This is a basic vegetable gardening course over 6 weeks.
Each week we will cover the practical garden knowledge you will need to get your garden started.
The Chapel Street Community Garden has a focus on gardening in sync with our environment.
From this course you will have the basic information to help you make informed choices and be able to grow your garden as you wish - planting the vegetables that you want to eat.
Each week will focus on a different topic. Using a garden bed we prepare together. You will get your hands in the soil and compost, start some seeds for your garden.
Topics include:
- Getting to know your garden space
- Create a planting calendar
- Propagation and sowing your own seeds (for your garden)
- Keeping your soil productive and healthy
- Seed saving for next year and to share
- Pests and guests - getting the balance
