Growing and Using Edible Flowers

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Edible flowers are a wonderful thing to add to your garden and can bring delight, flavour and nutrition to your plate. In this hands-on session we’ll tour the farm to learn about edible flowers in a Perth climate, what to grow and how to grow them. We’ll cover propagation techniques and take cuttings and share seeds of some of our favourites.

Then we’ll head into the kitchen to learn about using flowers as food, whip up some canapes and try pressing some flowers for later use. Morning tea will be back in the garden to enjoy our canapes with fresh herbal tea.

Leave with a City Farm Edible Flower Growing Guide, a plant cutting and a couple of different seeds to get started at home.

Our weekly farmer's market will be in full swing during your workshop, so it's worth arriving a little early to check out the stalls and pick up some fresh produce.

Perth City Farm is a community urban farm that supports connected, sustainable communities. Established on a former industrial site in East Perth, this polluted site has been lovingly rehabilitated by volunteers to become a Western Australian icon for environmental sustainability and community engagement. We provide space and opportunities to build community connections, and educate and enable people to live sustainably.
