Growing Great Teachers Together
Description
Great teachers are developed through great partnerships
La Trobe University’s School of Education warmly invites school leaders, professional experience coordinators and staff who support pre-service teachers to join us for breakfast and a focused partnership event.
This event will unveil La Trobe’s evolving approach to professional experience: a more connected, collaborative and evidence-informed model designed to strengthen relationships between the University, schools, mentors and pre-service teachers.
It is also an opportunity to explore exciting new partnerships that are mutually beneficial. Together, we will consider how professional experience can contribute not only to the preparation of future teachers, but also to school improvement, mentor development and the strength of the wider teaching workforce.
Dr Haili Hughes, Associate Dean Education Partnerships and Professional Practice, will lead a practical and engaging discussion about evidence-informed mentoring and coaching. The session will explore how schools and La Trobe can work together to create professional experiences in which pre-service teachers develop, mentors are supported and school communities benefit.
You will:
hear about La Trobe’s new vision for professional experience;
explore opportunities to build deeper and more purposeful school–university partnerships;
consider how evidence-informed mentoring and coaching can support beginning teachers;
identify ways professional experience can provide value for schools as well as pre-service teachers; and
contribute to shaping the next phase of La Trobe’s partnership approach.
We welcome school leaders and staff who are passionate about developing great teachers, strengthening mentoring practice and building the future of the profession.
