Event description

Grow your own native plants from seed and cuttings.

You’ll be guided through the process of growing local native plants from both seed and cutting. We'll explore where to source seeds and cuttings, other equipment and processes, and even touch on where and when to plant your natives.

Hear from the experts from Wollemi Natives, Biodiverstiy McLaren Vale, and the EcoClassroom Sanctuary

Finish in the evening, you will see the bettongs and potoroos come out for their dusk feeding. The animals are not pets but are quite tame and should come up close so you can see them feeding nearby.

The EcoClassroom Sanctuary at Tatachilla Lutheran College is a 3.37 ha revegetated site, modelled on natural ecosystems that once existed in the McLaren Vale region. The sanctuary is home to native fauna including endangered Brush-Tailed Bettongs, Long-Nosed Potoroos and Tammar Wallabies, as well as lizards, frogs and birds throughout. The workshop space is a rammed earth sustainable building connected to the plants and animals surrounding.

Suitable for: adults and families (children accompanied by an adult)

Included: the ticket price includes taking home your own pots of seeds and cuttings ready to grow on.

Date: Sunday 10th September
Time: 3 - 5.30pm
Investment: $7.50

We have First Nations sponsored places available, and may be able to offer sponsored places for those struggling financially.
