Growing your own organic food can be a healthy, intensely satisfying and cost-effective activity. Even with a small space you can supplement your purchased food with the very freshest produce. And since you grew it, you can be assured of its sustainability, wholesomeness and provenance.
In this practical introductory workshop, you will learn how to: plan a growing calendar; make and use compost organically; prepare soil; propagate new plants; control pests without dangerous chemicals; maintain growing conditions; protect and harvest crops.
Your presenters are vegetable and herb growers with years of experience at Beelarong farm.
Whether it's pots on your balcony, a backyard vegetable patch, or a plot at a community farm, this is a workshop for beginners and those needing a refresher to growing organic food.
All materials and morning tea provided.
