About the Speakers

Kathleen LaMarquand, Senior Genetic Counsellor Kathleen is a certified genetic counsellor with extensive experience in both general and prenatal genetics across public and private sectors. She has worked in hospitals across Sydney and overseas, with a strong focus on providing equitable, supportive care to diverse communities. Kathleen currently chairs the NSW Genetic Counsellor Advisory Network and the Professional Concerns and Complaints Committee for Australasia.

Kim Bowan, Parent Speaker Kim’s daughter was diagnosed with SATB2 Associated Syndrome in 2020, following a long and isolating diagnostic journey. Today, Kim is a Director of SATB2 Connect, a charity dedicated to advocacy, awareness, and education. She brings empathy, insight, and lived experience to her role and hopes to draw on this to support other families navigating a diagnosis for their child.
