Guest Artist Workshops: BASSIDI KONE

This event has passed Get Tickets

Event description

We are very excited to have Bassidi Kone visiting our drumming community again! Bassidi is an exceptional musician of Griot heritage from Mali, West Africa.

Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity to learn djembe and dunun from this master of the craft. These classes are for everyone. The open djembe class is great for beginners/all levels; and there is an inter/adv djembe and dunun class for more experienced drummers.

We are excited about the addition of a singing workshop this year. Learn traditional song from Mali and enjoy the musical accompaniments provided by Bassidi! We are also encouraging musicians and music teachers to come along to a special "Musician's Masterclass". This class is for musicians to learn about and explore West African rhythm on djembe and dun dun (previous experience on these instruments not required).

* All classes are 60mins in duration except for the Musicians' Masterclass, which will go for 2 hours.

Bassidi will also be treating Wangaratta to an acoustic balafon concert at No.49 Record Bar on the Saturday evening - super special and not to be missed!
