Event description

Join Caz for a morning relaxing morning of birdwatching!

Saturday, 15th November

Meeting Location: Peter Murrell Carpark off Scarborough Avenue, start of Scarborough Fire Trail, TAS

Duration: ~2-3 hours

Grade: Easy | Suitable for all fitness levels

Join Zorali Trailblazer and resident birder Caz for a morning walk through Peter Murrell Reserve, a haven for Tasmania’s native birdlife. You’ll take a gentle stroll through open bushland and wetlands while tuning into the songs and sights of local species, from fairy-wrens to honeyeaters. Along the way, Caz will share tips on identifying birds by sight and sound, how to use binoculars effectively, and ways to deepen your connection to the natural world.

Whether you’re new to birdwatching or already a keen spotter, this experience invites you to slow down, listen, and appreciate the wild soundtrack around you.

*If the weather turns for the Saturday, we'll reschedule to Sunday (this will be communicated), same time and place!

Itinerary

  • Meet: 8AM (AEDT) at Peter Murrell Reserve Carpark

  • Walk: Easy-paced loop walk through the reserve

  • Spot & Learn: Guided birdwatching session with Caz

  • Finish: 11AM. Optional coffee catch-up afterwards nearby

What to Bring

  • Comfortable walking shoes

  • Water bottle & snacks

  • Binoculars (if you have them)

  • Camera (if you have one)

  • Hat, sunscreen & weather-appropriate layers

  • We will have some binoculars to pass around for anyone who doesn't have them!

Why Join This Walk?

This experience is all about reconnecting with nature through curiosity and observation. You’ll walk away with new birding knowledge, a sharper ear for the sounds of the bush, and that familiar Zorali feeling of calm that comes from time spent outdoors.
