About the class:

This is an independent working studio. Come work while getting help from local Eno Arts Mill artist, Kelly Oakes. She will offer guidance to advance your work to the next level through individual critiques and group demos. This isn’t for beginners but perfect for novices as well as artists who want to work in a supportive group environment. All painting mediums welcomed (only gamasol allowed for oils/solvents).

About the Artist: Kelly Oakes

Kelly Oakes is a portrait painter, painting in oils both commissions and people that inspire her to paint them. She mostly paints from life, where she can experience the interplay between the model and the artist in the quiet of the studio. It is there that she can bring the essence of the model’s soul to the canvas.

Oakes has taught art for 20 years to all ages and abilities. She has a BFA from The Maryland Institute of Art, as well as studied at The Arts Students League in NYC. She enjoys sharing her passion for creating and appreciating art. She recently relocated with her husband to Hillsborough, NC. Kelly now has a studio at Eno Mill Artist Studios in Hillsborough, where she continues to paint commissions and teach.
