Guided Walk: historic Brownhill Creek Recreation Park
Event description
As part of the 2024 History Festival a guided tour of Brownhill Creek Recreation Park with local expert guide, Ron Bellchambers.Â
The park’s narÂrow creek flows through a steep sided valÂley with majesÂtic rivÂer red gums, (some more than 300 years old). This area was once a favourite campÂing, huntÂing and gathÂerÂing ground for the KauÂrÂna AboÂrigÂiÂnal People.Â
Large rivÂer red gums line BrownÂhill Creek while blue gum woodÂland climbs the valÂley slopes. The park also supÂports a small, threatÂened, ecosysÂtem of grey box grassy woodland. Today, this 51 hectare park offers an escape from the city and includes a horse trail and fenced horse exerÂcise area.
