Mahasoma Guru Purnima Celebration 2023

This event has passed Get tickets

Event description

Join us for one of our favourite Vedic celebrations of the year, Guru Purnima.

On this night, under the brightest full moon of the year (purnima), when the moon is closer to the Earth than at any other time, our tradition alongside the whole of India expresses gratitude for all the teachers (gurus) in our lives. For us, we especially give gratitude to the masters of our Vedic meditation tradition who have passed down this transformative knowledge and wisdom for us to experience and embody today.

Each year, we love coming together as a community and sharing in a memorable experience. Last year was high energy kirtana (call and response chanting). This year we felt into the collective and decided that a deeply restful experience in the subtle is just what we all need.

Therefore, we will be gathering at Greenfields for a group meditation and Vedic ceremony, followed by a Vedic storytelling/mythology and deeply restful sound experience with Phoebe Dubar from IKSRE. We will then have open community time to gather, connect, and share sweets.

Friends, family, and partners of Vedic meditators are all welcome!

CHOOSING YOUR CONTRIBUTION:

We have based our tiered pricing structure on the green bottle method developed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk. This economic justice tool helps you determine where you fall on the sliding scale based on your financial privilege. To determine which ticket price is most appropriate for you, please read through the checklist on the booking page You may not say “yes” to every statement but the option with the most YES answers will be your contribution. Please be mindful that there are a fixed amount of places for each ticket option. If you select an option at the lowest end of the scale when you can truthfully afford the higher end, you are limiting access to those who really need the gift of financial flexibility.

FYI - Some of you may see Guru Purnima events happening on Sunday 2nd July. According to Jyotisha (Vedic astrology) in Australia Guru Purnima is July 3rd. In India it is July 2nd. Some people like to celebrate with India on the 2nd - we will be doing that in our own homes! But our community event will be aligning with the full moon in Australia on 3rd July.
