Come join us for GYROKINESIS® Movement Classes in the Park! With the weather getting warmer and being able to gather again, we are offering GYROKINESIS® intimate small group classes of not more than 5 persons on Wednesdays, 7:30 - 8:30 am, Fridays, 12 - 1 pm and Sundays, 9:30 - 10:30 am at Barkly Gardens in Richmond, VIC 3121.

What is the GYROKINESIS® movement method?

The GYROKINESIS® movement method, developed by Juliu Horvath, a former ballet principal with the Romanian National Ballet, addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences, like those found in swimming, yoga, gymnastics, and tai chi.

The GYROKINESIS® Method stretches and strengthens muscles, while simultaneously stimulating and strengthening connective tissues in and around the joints of the body, as well as internal organs. Exercises, synchronized with corresponding breathing patterns, enhance aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promote neuromuscular rejuvenation. The uniqueness of the method is that it simultaneously stretches and strengthens the body with minimal effort, while increasing range of motion and developing coordination.

The benefits of GYROKINESIS® exercises include increased strength and flexibility, renewed energy and vitality and a general sense of calm and wellbeing.  

The GYROKINESIS® Method is practiced on a mat and chair without equipment. Without the feedback and guidance of equipment as in the GYROTONIC® method, participants in a Gyrokinesis class rely on and develop their own proprioception to explore movement sequences.

Who is it for?

GYROKINESIS® classes can be adapted to fit anyone's ability. People from all walks of life take GYROKINESIS® classes, including accomplished athletes, fitness enthusiasts, senior citizens and people recovering from an injury or dealing with a disability. By the end of a GYROKINESIS® session, one's entire system is awakened and brought into greater balance. Focus on the breath stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system resulting in a sense of calm, well-being and mental clarity.

Please note:

  • Adverse weather arrangements: In the event of adverse weather, the class will be held virtually over Zoom. We will send along the Zoom link at least an hour before the class. Please check your spam folder and contact us at meanderfulmovement@gmail.com if you don't receive it.
  • Cancellation policy: Cancellations can be made at least 24 hours before the class via Humanitix and you will be refunded accordingly. Please email us at meanderfulmovement@gmail.com if you're unable to make the class. Thanks!
  • Equipment: Please bring your own yoga mat. If you are unable to bring your own, please let us know ahead of time and we might be able to bring an extra one for you. Stools will be provided and will be wiped down before and after the class to be Covid-safe.
  • Keeping each other safe: As required by current Victoria Department of Health and Human Services' Covid-safe guidelines, kindly show us proof of your full vaccination status at the start of class. If you, anyone in your household or a close contact, are experiencing any Covid symptoms, please stay home and let us know at meanderfulmovement@gmail.com. And if you know you may have been exposed, kindly get tested and inform us of your negative Covid test result before resuming classes. Thank you for keeping us all safe as we learn to gather safely together again.
