Accra, this is bigger than cybercrime

As Africa builds talent at scale, cybercrime continues to hold the continent back by eroding trust, weakening confidence and damaging the environment for direct investment. The effects are felt not only by victims, but also by society, the Ghanaian economy and the wider African tech ecosystem.

This panel will unpack the key drivers behind the problem, explore its real impact on communities and economies, and deliberate on the strategic pivots, policies and events needed to reverse the trend and unlock Africa as a global talent hub.

Cybersecurity and AI leaders, forensic experts and technical practitioners will explore:

• The pressures and conditions that push young people toward cybercrime.

• The social and economic cost of cybercrime in Ghana and across Africa.

• How cybercrime damages trust, investment confidence and long-term growth.

• The policy, legal and strategic responses needed to shift the trajectory.

• The role of ethical tech, cybersecurity and AI careers in building a stronger future.

• How to turn talent into opportunity at scale across the continent.
