What to expect

Working in a group with other passionate girls like you, you’ll explore and ‘hack’ your way into some of the world’s biggest issues relevant to you and your future careers. Its themes like gender equality, climate change, financial freedom and security, just to name a few.

You’ll be supported by a mentor from HESTA who will guide you and your team in exploring exciting and possible solutions to tackle the issue.

And the exciting bit? The event concludes with each team presenting their solution in a ‘Shark Tank’ style set-up. A panel of HESTA representatives will be there to cheer you on and provide feedback.

I’m not in Melbourne but very interested. Will you have this event in other states?

How old do I have to be to participate?

To get the most value, the HESTA Hackathon is aimed at girls and young women including non-binary between 15 and 21 years of age.

Will I get my topic beforehand?

We will allocate topics on the day of the event.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, just yourself and your desire to make an impact

Is food provided?

Yes, food and refreshments are provided. If you have any dietary requirements, please make sure you state them when you register.

Can my parents/carers come to watch?

We know the more the merrier, however, we want to keep the event focused on the participants with minimal distraction. We also want to encourage physical distancing to keep everyone safe.

What if I cannot make it anymore?

We’ll be sad but also understand things come up. Please cancel your ticket in Humanitix as soon as possible, so you can free up the spot.
