Event description

Every hall has a story to tell, and Damian Callinan will be the wall that talks. Using his skills as a comedian & storyteller, he’ll pull back the curtain on his own tour stories & examine the quirks, traditions & characters of rural Australian halls. With specific focus on the history & characters of the Kaarimba Hall, Damian will deliver a hilarious show & later deliver a podcast to document our halls story.

Damian is an acclaimed comedian, actor & writer. A three-time nominee for Most Outstanding Show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, he is best known for his roles in Skithouse, Backyard Ashes & The Merger, the film adaption of his award-winning solo show of the same name. Callinan is renowned for his prolific output of live shows including Double Feature, The Lost WW1 Diary & Mayor for a Day. An award nominated podcaster & author, he can currently be seen on screen in The Newsreader & White Fever (ABCTV) & in cinemas as the lead in the cult film, The Emu War.

This event is supported by a 'Flood recovery and resilience grant' from Moira Shire, state and federal governments. Kaarimba district was severely impacted by the 2022 floods. The hall was a community meeting place and sand bagging depot during the floods.
