This beginner course will guide you through the fundamentals of hand-building techniques, from basic forms to functional pieces. You will explore various materials, tools, and decoration methods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of ceramics, as well as techniques for creating functional and artistic pottery pieces.

By the end of the 8 weeks, you will have a deeper understanding of the process of ceramic and the skills to glaze your creations.

You will learn:

• Basic hand building skills and knowledge

• Understand of clay and firing

• Explore decoration methods

• Gain confidence in hand building with clay.

Available sessions:

• Tuesdays 1:00pm-3:00pm; or

• Thursdays 9:30am-11:30am.

Term 1 commences 3 February 2026.

About: The Cooroy Butter Factory Pottery Studio is a community space for potters of all skill levels. It is well equipped with pottery wheels, a slab roller, an extruder, kilns and plenty of workspace. Work solo at your own pace, or join a class.
