Description

Hand-building Vase Workshop is a guided ceramic experience focused on creating a unique, hand-built vase. Participants will explore slab and hand-building techniques to develop a form that is expressive, functional, and distinctly personal. The workshop balances demonstration, tactile exploration, and supported making time, with additional visual reference material to inspire vase forms. The process encourages experimentation with proportion, surface, and gesture, resulting in a finished piece that reflects individual creativity and the character of handmade work.

About the Artist
Sasa is a ceramic artist based in the Byron Hinterland whose practice combines sculptural expression with functional design. With 30 years of experience, she brings a considered and supportive teaching approach that fosters confidence and technical skill. Her work is inspired by coastal and desert landscapes, translating natural textures and elemental movement into ceramic form. Using ash glazes, layered materials, and controlled surface techniques, she creates work that ranges from refined tableware to expressive sculptural pieces.

Materials and Equipment
All clay, tools, studio equipment, aprons, firing, and glazing are provided. Herbal tea and filtered rainwater are available throughout the session. A half-hour lunch break is included.

Additional Information
Suitable for all levels. Participants should bring their own lunch, wear comfortable clothing suitable for working with clay, and are encouraged to keep nails short for ease of making. Please bring creativity and openness to experimentation. Postage for finished works is not included and will be an additional cost if required.
