Hand Colouring Photographs Workshop at SECCA with Ruth Maddison
Event description
Develop your skills and learn from leading artists. In this workshop join one of Australia's foremost photographers Ruth Maddison to explore the technique of hand-colouring black and white photographs.
Ruth will show examples, discuss creating photographs that are suited for hand colouring, advise which supplies work best, and demonstrate colouring techniques. All participants will be working on their own images using a variety of media of their choice.
Participants will leave with finished pieces of their own creation, along with the knowledge and skills necessary to continue this process with confidence.
Please bring several of your own digital or darkroom black and white prints of any size. Local op shops are a great place to source old photographs and black and white postcards. A selection of black and white photos will be provided.
Colouring materials will be supplied including coloured pencils, watercolour paints, inks, pastels, crayons and markers. You are welcome to bring additional colouring supplies from home (no oil-based medium please).
Suitable for teens and adults. No prior experience required.
Saturday 14 December, 12 - 2pm, $65 per person plus booking fee.
