Cost: $105 per person, limited to 10 places
About the workshop:
Come spend the evening playing with clay in the artisan workshop and make your own ceramic mug! Alessia will teach you everything you need know - tips, tricks and tools you can use when handbuilding. You’ll choose your own style and shape, then use underglaze to decorate your new creation. Alessia will fire and glaze your work in her studio, and it will be ready for pick up at artisan a few weeks after the workshop!
Skill level: This workshop is suitable for beginners
Included in workshop ticket:
- Your very own handbuilt mug to keep! (food safe!)
- All materials including clay, underglaze and tools
- Both firings done by Alessia
- New knowledge about working with clay
- Light refreshments
What to bring:
- Clothes that can get dirty, or an apron
- Closed in shoes
About the facilitator:
Alessia Emanuele is an artist based in Brisbane who creates happy and silly ceramics. After graduating from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Laws, Alessia is determined not to pursue a corporate life and her artistic practice is largely founded on the rejection of traditional career frameworks. Sustainability informs her practice with a focus on creating vessels that are both decorative and functional. Alessia creates intuitively with characters and scenes from her own colourful universe and hopes that her work can make others happy too.

Please be assured artisan has well considered COVID-safe protocols regarding our workshop programming. You will be offered socially distanced seating, access to your own PPE sanitation options at your workspace, and a large extremely well-ventilated workshop venue.
Workshop Cancellation Policy:
Please note this workshop can be cancelled by artisan due to unforeseen circumstances or if minimum numbers are not reached. In this event participants will be refunded accordingly and as soon as possible.
Participant Cancellation Policy:
Workshops have limited spaces and involve preparation by the facilitator. Bookings cancelled up to one week prior to the start of the workshop may be refunded, but a 20% non-refundable administration fee will be deducted. Bookings cancelled within a week of the workshop commencing will NOT be refunded.
Workshop Transfer Policy:
You may transfer your booking into an alternative workshop up to one week prior to the start of the workshop. Any difference in cost will be charged accordingly. Please endeavour to complete any transfers at least one week prior to the workshop.
You are also welcome to transfer your booking to another person prior to the workshop commencing. Please confirm this arrangement in writing to workshop@artisan.org.au.
