Description

Join us in learning te ao Māori approach to restoration!

Hands On Ecology workshop series is designed for community restoration groups and anyone keen to learn about restoration ecology through a te ao Māori lens. A 3-hour session offers practical skills for restoring private and public spaces, and may include up to 2 hours of walking—please dress appropriately and bring water/snacks.

This session covers:

Riparian forest structures
Stream-side plant selection
Climbers, epiphytes and ferns
Plant identification

Registration is essential as participant numbers are limited for health and safety reasons.

Based in Auckland’s North, Kaipātiki Project is an innovative EcoHub, growing a sustainable future for people and nature. We have been empowering people, inspiring connection with nature, and enabling sustainable living for over 27 years.

Our kaupapa is rooted in a community-led approach, embracing te ao Māori and mātauranga iwi/hapū, while promoting chemical-free practices and a whole-system approach to environmental stewardship.

Along with over 1,000 volunteers, we run a thriving native plant nursery where we grow 40,000+ native and plant them back in the local reserves. We facilitate forest, stream and estuary regeneration days, promote zero waste, and encourage local food initiatives.
