Live online Storytelling event - Hanzel & Gretel
Event description
Join medicinal storyteller Nathan Meola for an online telling of one of the world's most well-known fairytales.
In a culture devoid of mythic nutrition, the human soul is starving while we continue to be seduced into a frenzy of dietary distractions and obesity obsession.
On this evening we will use the medicine of myth and ancient stories to dissect the cult of weight loss and explore this complex conversation through a mythic lens.
Hanzel and Gretel is a German fairytale collected and published by the Brothers Grimm in 1812 and will be used as a focal point for our enquiry. If you don't already know this story I will be giving nothing away by offering this image through the eyes of two poor, lost children wandering in the dark forest.
"Appearing out of the mist, in a place they had been neither before nor since, was a cottage. Rubbing their eyes the children could scarcely believe what they were seeing. The cottage was made of what looked like gingerbread, and it was adorned with the most tantalising treats your imagination could muster. They were drawn toward the cottage by some unknown force, even as the knots in her stomach told the girl to grab her little brother and run."
As we twist and turn our way through this ancient story, we will be leaving breadcrumbs along the way to help you remember your soul story.
This event will be a welcome reprieve for any human who has ever gone into battle with their body using food as ammunition.
