Harko Brown - Traditional Māori Games related to flight and Kumara
Description
Enjoy the ambience of this park rich in the history of this region where important papakainga, waka landings and fertile soils once sustained huge populations with extensive kumara cultivations and where seas were once plentiful in pipi, cockles and fish. Ancestors here celebrated their bounty with games matched to the foods, happenings and provisions of this land. Harko Brown will facilitate several of these exciting ancient cultural activities with talks on how their histories and propositions can impact us today.
Lots of low impact participation and cultural sharing. FREE programme for all ages.
