Jodeen Carney, Commissioner, Equal Opportunity
Jodeen Carney, our esteemed Equal Opportunity Commissioner, has a remarkable career spanning various roles in the Northern Territory, including lawyer, politician, and departmental chief executive. After retiring from politics, she conducted a comprehensive review of the Territory’s youth justice system in 2011. In her current role as South Australia’s Commissioner for Equal Opportunity since April 2021, Jodeen continues to advocate for the advancement of women and child protection, reflecting her enduring commitment to these crucial issues.
Manal Younus, Performing Artist, Storyteller, Facilitator
Manal Younus, an accomplished storyteller, and artist, originally from Eritrea and now based on Kaurna Country in South Australia, believes in the power of language and stories to shape our existence. Manal has received numerous accolades, including the Ministerial Award for Leadership in Languages and Cultures and being a finalist for the Channel 9 Young Achiever Award in Arts and Culture, Young South Australian of the Year, and the Governors Multicultural Award. Through her writing, performances, and workshops, Manal fosters an environment for audiences to explore questions about themselves, the world, and to share meaningful stories.
Julie Rapebach, South Australian Tourism Commission
Julie Rapebach immigrated from France seven years ago, to work for a not-for-profit association promoting the French language and culture in Australia. She is now employed by Events South Australia, at the South Australian Tourism Commission where she has created the Intercultural Awareness Group, with the aim of advancing multiculturalism and interculturalism in the workplace.
