HARNESS YOUR BODY: Series
Event description
Harness your Body is a space for radical self-care & expression. Through breath, grounding, presence & free movement we reconnect with our bodies & express! Embodiment is the goal, no more avoidance! It's time to move our emotions through our bodies! Shake, jump, lay, flop, wiggle & throw tantrums in a contained space. Then, take your body back into the world. Our bodies hold our emotions, our creativity & our desire. Our bodies hold POWER & it’s time to HARNESS it!

Harness your Body was created with reference to 2 of the 6 Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles "contact with the present moment" and "defusion". ACT tells us to Drop Anchor - connect with body and present in order to expand for sensation & emotion, defuse from thoughts so we can be with ourselves even when in pain.
Harness Your Body also incorporates principles and strategies from Somatic based therapies learnt through "Importance of Body Connection" (taught by Jean Gamble) and "Methods of Body Based Emotional Processing" (taught by Cathy Williams).
With guidance from Dr Jennifer Mullan the pioneer of de-colonising therapy, I am unpicking, and unravelling what it means and what it looks like to practice de-colonised therapy. A goal that can never be fully realised but one that I will continue to strive for. Harness your body was written through a de-colonising lens. This space calls you to bring your body as it is in all its power, to let yourself feel your feelings without shame, to let your self embody your body and experience all its sensations and RESPOND with radical care!
