Farm entrance is opposite Tumbulgum Growers Market, marked with "Sunshine Sugar" flags. CAUTION advised when turning off Tweed Valley Way into farm driveway.
Description: This father and son duo come from a long line of Tweed sugarcane growers.
Between them they run 250 hectares of farm land which is under sugarcane production. Fallow paddocks are planted with soybean to provide organic nutrients back into the soil and offer a good seasonal cash crop.
The sugarcane, when harvested is sent to the Condong Sugar Mill.
Meet Kevin and Peter at one of their properties for a first hand introduction to the NSW sugar industry which has been a thriving agricultural pursuit in the Northern Rivers for over 150 years.
Get up close with some of the key farming machinery and equipment and walk amongst the sugarcane and soybeans growing on the farm.
Peter also works with the Husk Distillery and Kevin is a Director on the Sunshine Sugar Board.
Notes: This is a working property, so please wear covered, flat shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground. No refreshments or toilet amenities are available.
