Join Bee The Change Landcare × Bee Built for the Portland Pollinator Harvest Party, a hands-on morning of native bee stewardship, cocoon harvesting, honey, and community.

Have a Mason bee house with filled nesting reeds? Bring them with you!

This workshop is an opportunity to learn how to properly open nesting materials and harvest, clean, and store Mason bee cocoons for winter, helping protect the next generation until they’re ready to emerge in spring. Bring your own filled reeds to harvest alongside us, or simply come to learn and get hands-on with the process.

We'll also explore the very different lives of native bees and honey bees, the roles they play in our urban ecosystems, and how thoughtful stewardship of our gardens and landscapes can better support both.

What we'll do

🐝 Native Bee Cocoon Harvest
Learn the full process of harvesting, cleaning, and storing Mason bee cocoons, followed by an opportunity to work hands-on with nesting materials.

🍯 Honey Harvest Demonstration
Step into the world of honey bees and see how honey makes its way from the hive to the jar, with an opportunity to taste the harvest.

🌿 Pollinator Stewardship + Community
Connect with local educators, organizations, and fellow bee people. Ask questions, share resources, and celebrate another season of tending our local pollinators.

Beginners are absolutely welcome. Come if you're already a dedicated bee nerd, if you have a mysterious bee house hanging in your yard and aren't sure what to do with it, or if you're simply curious about the lives of the pollinators around us.
