Hat Making For Beginners
Event description
Discover how to make your very own hat out of reclaimed materials with our guest skill sharer Liane from the St Marys Repurposing and Upcycling Group in North-East Tasmania. In this workshop Liane will take you through the process of creating a bespoke hat from scrap materials and recycled clothing. Various hat designs will be available. All participants will come away with their very own hat, created using either a sewing machine or hand stitching. Liane will have a range of hats on display for inspiration.
This workshop is recommended for both adults and young people (ages 13 years and older).
Note - If this workshop books out, a second workshop will be delivered on Friday 14th April, 10am-3pm. Please join the wait list to be notified if this workshop will proceed.
WORKSHOP DETAILS
Location - This workshop will be delivered in our Education Centre, opposite the South Hobart Tip Shop(Look for the sign). This building is also known as our old tip shop building (the green shed). It can be a little cold on cooler days so please wear warm clothes and we'll light the fire. Our public toilets are located in the South Hobart Tip Shop.
What to bring - We'll supply all the materials and equipment. You may wish to bring any material you would like to incorporate into your hat. These should be natural fibres. BYO your own snacks and lunch to have in Education garden.
How to get here - You can ride, walk, drive or bus to our Education Centre. Buses stop on Cascade Road, and from there its a 10-15 minute walk along McRobies Road to our centre.
Cancellations - In the event of severe weather conditions such as strong winds, the McRobies Gully Waste Management facility in which we are located can be closed to the public to keep everyone safe. If this occurs, our workshop will be cancelled. We will make every effort to notify participants as early as possible by phone and email, and provide refunds. We will then work on rescheduling the workshop in the future.
