Have Fun Being Arty- Art for Children aged 8 to 13
THURSDAYS 4:00pm-5:30pm
Participants can enrol for one or more workshops
In this hands-on course children will experience and explore a range of art making techniques including drawing, painting, collage and print making in a range of different mediums. Through age-appropriate, structured activities and projects children will get hands-on practice, learn foundation art skills and learn a bit of art theory. A relaxing, fun and creative 8 weeks to assist children develop their creative self and experiment with methods and materials in a safe and supportive environment.
Fees are $20 per class (total $160), with a one off purchase required for a resource pack for $50.

Workshop overview:
12 May- Workshop 1 Making Marks and Portraits in Pencil
While looking and seeing, participants will draw everyday objects, exploring shape, light, shade and depth. Participants will learn a little bit about anatomy to improve their portrait drawing skills. Bring a photo of yourself or someone you would like to draw.
19 May- Workshop 2 Fun with Vegetables and Fruit - Monoprinting
Participants will explore mono-printing using a variety of mixed media and everyday items including fruit and vegetables to create unusual works on watercolour paper.
26 May- Workshop 3 Watercolour Whale
Participants will incorporate a variety of painting techniques with watercolour and/or acrylic paints while exploring special techniques such as salt effects. Participants take home a beautiful whale painting using these effects.
2 June- Workshop 4 Crayon, Wax Resist and Stencils
Participants explore and learn about patterns, shapes, perspective while having fun with crayon and wax resist techniques.
9 June- Workshop 5 Fun with Pen and Wash – Quirky Animals
Participants explore pen and wash drawing techniques taking home a quirky animal painting such as an alpaca, sheep, cow, budgies. Bring in a photo reference to draw if you like.
16 June- Workshop 6 Creative Collage
Participants create incredible animal portraits using paper collage techniques and learn the basics of this fascinating medium. Bring along a photo of an animal to paint or teacher will supply same.
23 June- Workshop 7 Paint like Vincent
Participants review works of art by Van Gogh and create their own masterpiece on canvas board in acrylic paint, while exploring the techniques and features of working with acrylic paint.
30 June- Workshop 8 Negative and Positive Space and Optical Effects
Participants explore negative and positive spaces and their effects in art. They create their own negative and positive painting, while also exploring optical effects and their uses.
