Have your say focus group - NDIS Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) Strategy

Join us in an online conversation to have your say about the NDIS Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) Strategy.

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is co-designing a new CaLD Strategy and action plan to improve access, experience and outcomes for people with disability from CALD backgrounds, so they can access the NDIS on an equal basis with others.

To do this, the NDIA will be running a few focus groups from November 2022 for:

Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) people with a disability who are NDIS participants
A family member or carer of CaLD NDIS participants
A person with a disability from a CaLD background, who is not an NDIS participant

We use the term ‘CaLD’ to include any person who belongs or identifies as being from a different cultural and/or linguistic background, including differences in cultural/ethnic identity, language, country of birth, religion, heritage/ancestry, national origin, and/or race and colour. This term does not include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and does not aim to provide an absolute definition of what CaLD is.

We will share your details and feedback about your experience with the NDIS only with the staff directly involved in the development of the CaLD Strategy.

What you say will be de-identified, which means we will not share your name or personal details when we share your feedback. Your participation will not impact your NDIS funding or eligibility assessment.

Who is involved

The focus group will have a mix of:

CaLD people with a disability and carers
Internal subject matter experts from the NDIA
Representatives from the disability sector
Partners in the Community (Local Area Coordinators and Early Childhood Early Intervention Coordinators)

Please note:
- All times are in Eastern Standards Daylight Savings times
- Participants who sign up will have to attend three meetings that focus on a particular theme.
- If you don't meet the eligibility, you will not be sent a meeting link.

- Invites will only be sent to those who are eligible and on a first come, first served basis.

Payment

All attendees will be paid a $50 voucher per hour for taking part in the focus groups.

Support

The workshop will have live captioning available. If you need an Auslan interpreter, an interpreter for another language or have any other accessibility requirements or support needs to join, you can let us know when you register.
