Haven is proud to welcome Sydney's own Pretty Girl (dj set) for her debut Byron Bay show, a rising talent on the global scale known for infusing her music with roots of left-field rhythms and her own vocals, creating uplifting and vibrant dance floors. Pretty Girl joins us a for a rare DJ appearance which are known to be oozing with energetic, vibrant & bouncy house as well likely nods to her own influences and material. Local selections by Jai Piccone, Luen, & sollydass.

Haven positions itself as a high quality temporary venue where people can celebrate music and connect with their community before the building is inevitably redeveloped. The entire space is built entirely with salvaged materials; a nod to the space's transient nature. The impermanence of the space becomes part of its power, building urgency and turning each night of unique programming into a rarity.

The venues story is also shaped by the history of the building. An old Woolworths site now being transformed into a venue for culture. By doing this we are turning the commercial into the cultural and embodying our grassroots communal spirit. Pairing one of Australia's most ambitious venue fit outs by Buckworth & Co, with an incredible Danley Sound Labs system; setup with upmost care by Hugo at Sound is Everything, light design by Tony Funicello and an incredible array of artists we cannot wait to share our vision with you all.

PRETTY GIRL

Pretty Girl; the producer, vocalist, and DJ, brings emotion to the club with her warm-blooded productions and captivating live set. Over the past two years PG has been making a splash in her home city of Naarm (Melbourne) and greater Australia, selling out her headline live show, playing main support for Bonobo, and recently performing her live set to 6000 people at Boiler Room Melbourne.

Music is a portal for PG, who invites you into her world through her left-field infusions of house, UKG, and techno, pairing all her productions with her delicate vocals. Intuition, attention to detail, and emotion is the key for her music.

LUEN

Luen is a DJ, producer, radio host and teacher.

From throwing parties as a teen, to working in events for VICE and Ableton and hosting shows on triple j and FBi Radio, Luen has been a valuable member of the dance music community for close to a decade.

Her first foray into production began in October 2019 with the self released, self titled debut Luen EP. Made in her bedroom with basic hardware, a plethora of samples and a microphone, it was created with dance floors in mind. Fast paced, crunchy and stripped back with splatters of owl samples and her own effected vocals.

To celebrate the release Luen took her free womens DJ Workshops on tour to 13 locations across Australia. Teaching over 300 female identifying, non binary and trans women how to operate DJ Decks, connect with audiences and consider space and time in their sets. To date she has taught over 1000 women to DJ since 2016.

Luen has supported Peggy Gou, Wolf + Lamb, Red Axis, Dj Seinfeld, Honey Dijon, Project Pablo, Sleep D and DJ’d around the globe from Portugal to London and New York to Peru. She works alongside DJ's Jad & The and Dom Bird to bring forth the Beats Of No Nation music podcast and Genie Stuart to present TAXX on Skylab Radio.

Her curated 9 track compilation 'Taxx Vol 1' dropped in 2018 alongside the Taxx 1 music zine (ft Genie, Nabihah Iqbal, Noise In My Head and Ewan Jansen) which is available and in stores and on bandcamp now. 'Taxx Vol 2' + zine 2 are in the works for a mid 2020 release.

Behind the decks Luen takes a wide approach, mixing house, acid and techno classics with tasty and rare oddities from across the globe.

JAI PICCONE

As a member of the globally-renowned band Tora, as well as a solo artist in his own right. Jai’s opportunities to explore his love of faster, more club-orientated music have been fleeting. However, over the last few months, the Australian artist (via Berlin, Amsterdam and now Barcelona) has experienced his most productive writing window in memory, culminating in a bundle of tasteful dance. Jais projects also include new project DJ Sugarush as well as curating the artist bookings at Haven.

SOLLYDASS

Originating in Byron Bay, Australia, Solomon is host to the renowned radio station "Trespass Radio." With a bachelors degree in composition, his music ranges from Jazz to Garage and everything in between. He has performed at notable venues and events in countries across Europe and America, including Jumbi Peckham (London), Departamento (Mexico City) and Club Tee Gee (LA) He has also released several EPs and singles, which have gained publication and praise from fans and critics alike.
