We Belong: Social Event - Stories of Belonging

What does it take to truly feel like you belong in construction — and what can we do to create more of those moments for women in our sector?

Join NAWIC Hawke’s Bay for an evening that moves beyond conversation and into action.

We’ll begin with Stories of Belonging, sharing the experiences of local women from across our construction community and the moments that made them realise there was a place for them in construction.

From there, the conversation turns to all of us. Together, we’ll identify practical, achievable things our workplaces can do to strengthen belonging for women in construction — and collectively commit to taking those ideas back into our organisations.

This is about real stories, practical actions and creating change we can come back to and measure.

What the evening will look like:

5.00pm – Arrive, connect & explore

Grab a drink, catch up with others and wander through our Stories of Belonging gallery, featuring the experiences of local women across Hawke’s Bay construction.

Share & contribute

Join small-group conversations about what helps women feel they belong in our industry — and where we could do better.

Turn ideas into action

Together, we’ll brainstorm practical things Hawke’s Bay workplaces can do to strengthen belonging and identify the ideas we believe could make the biggest difference.

Make a commitment

Choose one action to take back to your own workplace — creating something tangible we can follow up on and celebrate when we come together again in 2027. Whether you work on site, in the office, in the trades, professional services, leadership or are just starting your construction career, we want you to be part of the conversation.

Cost: Free for NAWIC Members and Non-Members. Not a NAWIC Member? Join today
