Deane and Melissa Parker look forward to welcoming you to their dairy farm near Horoata for an interactive and practical day focused on hay bale grazing and regenerative dairy farming in action.

Deane and Melissa run a 350-cow regenerative dairy farm with a strong focus on improving soil health, animal health, and overall farm resilience. Having bale grazed for the past four winters, they have built valuable practical experience and insights into making this system work successfully on a commercial dairy farm.

Discussion topics for the day are likely to include:

• Pre-bale grazing paddocks and preparation

• Bale grazing in action

• Soil function and soil health under bale grazing

• Reproduction performance and results

• Animal health outcomes, including trialling no teat seal for R2s

• Reducing antibiotic use at dry-off

Field day participants are invited to arrive at the farm at 1pm for a cuppa and a chat with the day starting at 1.30pm.

Following an introductory discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to view bale grazing in practice and visit various areas of the farm to observe and discuss the principles and outcomes of Deane and Melissa's regenerative approach.

This will be an open and honest discussion about what is working well, what has been challenging, and what is still being learned. Deane and Melissa welcome questions and discussion throughout the day and look forward to sharing their experiences with fellow farmers.

The field day will conclude around 4.30pm, with time for further discussion before heading off.
