Hayat Amina (Safe Life)
Event description
Hayat Amina
(Safe Life)
Mariam and Naji’s marriage started with every ounce of hope you’d expect from a young couple in love. But as the wedding celebrations fade and real life settles in, the cracks begin to show. Arguments grow sharper, a childhood friend’s charm turns coercive, and Mariam begins to question the life she’s building, and the man she’s building it with.
Meanwhile, under a different kind of pressure, Yousera, a teenage girl new to Australia, is doing everything she can to stay afloat. Juggling school, underpaid work, and the heavy expectations of supporting her family. But one of those jobs comes with something no one warned her about: unwanted attention.
As their paths slowly entwine, Mariam and Yousera begin to see their stories reflected in one another. Their shared silence becomes a shared strength, and by speaking up, they start to challenge everything holding them back - from whispered gossip to the unspoken rules that tell women to stay quiet.
Hayat Amina is a raw, emotional, and honest story about breaking cycles, and choosing a different future.
