Description
The cottage at the heart of Hazelhurst's gardens has a story worth telling. Built in the late 1940s by Ben and Hazel Broadhurst, it was constructed almost entirely through resourcefulness and ingenuity at a time when post-war shortages made conventional building nearly impossible.
The Broadhursts were remarkable people; early environmentalists, free thinkers and generous community members who lived at Hazelhurst for decades before gifting the entire property to the public so it could remain a place of culture and green space in the heart of Gymea.
Join our Volunteer Guides on Saturday morning to hear the full story.
