7.10pm-7.30pm
Presenter: Tasman Tanks and Australian Stainless Steel Development Association (ASSDA)
Topic: Chlorine Induced corrosion and MIC
Stagnant areas in pipework, drains or tank bottoms are areas that can accumulate dirt and debris and become susceptible to Microbial Influenced Corrosion (MIC) especially for supplies with higher suspended solids. Whilst design and operation are solutions to MIC, chlorine additions are also a beneficial control. However, chlorine vapour can induce corrosion in the ullage space of tanks if the design and operation does not consider such issues in both welded and bolted stainless steel panel tanks. Onsite chlorine dosing can significantly reduce the performance of Stainless Steel tanks, if the correct corrosion mitigation strategies are not employed.
Tasman Tanks will be joined by special guest speaker from the ASSDA, materials expert Dr Graham Sussex, who has over 30 years’ experience in materials and corrosion mitigation to present on the above hot topic.
7.40pm-8pm
Presenter: Brent Livy and Will Radley, Halgan
Topic: Rainwater harvesting opportunities from a sustainability and regulatory compliance perspective
By capturing and utilising rainwater there are a multitude of advantages including cost savings and conservation of valuable resources. This practice aligns with increasing regulatory mandates aimed at promoting water efficiency and reducing urban runoff, in addition to complying with local building codes and green building certification requirements, while contributing to broader environmental goals.
8pm Meeting closes and time to socialise.
