Missae Splendore
Event description
COME AND JOIN US as radiant voices unite in MISSAE SPLENDORE, an exciting double concert collaboration bringing together two of the Waikato-Bay of Plenty region’s most celebrated choral ensembles.
MISSAE SPLENDORE is a unique double offering of choral concerts born from the collaborative spirit of two regional choral groups, the Hamilton Civic Choir and Rotorua District Choir. Each concert promises an uplifting and immersive choral experience, drawing together singers from across the Waikato and Bay of Plenty to celebrate shared artistry, community, and the beauty of collective harmony.
Anchoring each concert is a stunning selection of sacred and contemporary works, including the serene and spiritually radiant Lux Aeterna by Morten Lauridsen; and Miha, A Mass in Te Reo Māori, a sacred work that beautifully blends traditional Māori language with the structure of the mass and is composed by one of New Zealand’s very own, Takerei Komene. The programme also features Erik Esenvalds’ transcendent Lux Aeterna, Bob Chilcott’s vibrant A Little Jazz Mass and his tender setting of God So Loved the World, alongside Andy Beck’s enchanting Count the Stars.
With musical direction supported by Waikato-based collaborative pianist Chris Greenslade, a guest organist, talented instrumentalists, and standout local soloists, MISSAE SPLENDORE promises two special afternoons of music – one in Rotorua and the other in Hamilton.
Don’t miss this rare musical convergence — join us for a moving afternoon of choral splendour, and book your tickets for our Hamilton joint performance today!
