Head Planter Workshop with Monte Lupo

Make a head planter with Monte Lupo, perfect for ages 16 and up! Whether you're a novice or a seasoned artist, this workshop welcomes all skill levels. We provide all the materials and equipment you'll need, so just bring yourself and wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit of clay on.

This full-day workshop, will have you sculpting and decorating your very own head planter. You'll start by learning to join the pre-prepared neck and head, crafted in Monte Lupo's Brisbane studio. The neck is wheel-thrown, and the head is pressed from a mould by our skilled team, ready for your unique touch. Add personality to your planter with hair and other creative embellishments!

In the afternoon, unleash your inner artist by decorating your head planter with underglaze colours. You'll be guided through several decorating techniques used by Monte Lupo, making your piece truly one-of-a-kind. Once completed, your planter will be carefully transported back to Brisbane for firing.

Your masterpiece will be handled with care by our talented team, and in about two weeks, you'll be notified to pick it up from Gatakers Art Space. Should any kiln mishaps occur, rest assured we will repair it or give you another opportunity to create a new piece at no extra cost.

More about Monte Lupo Arts... Monte Lupo is a Multicap organisation. Multicap is a state-wide non-profit, established in 1962, that provides high-needs disability, individual, respite, and family support for people with disabilities their families, and carers in Queensland. In 1991 Multicap established the Monte Lupo Social Enterprise to provide a career path for people with disabilities who wished to be gainfully employed in an area encouraging creativity and artistic expression. Today Monte Lupo studio employees over 21 artists with a disability and 3 artists to manage and oversee all studio production. Monte Lupo has exhibited at SWELL Sculpture Festival since 2007 and is always a crowd favourite with their quirky and often whimsical brightly coloured ceramic masterpieces.
