Headz are Rolling pres. FreQ Nasty
Event description
An undisputed breakbeat don with a penchant for deep bone shaking bass, the legend himself FreQ Nasty is coming to share his music in Canberra. He is one of Burning Man’s most loved DJ’s, and his signature bass-heavy sets have been a pilgrimage for fans of the Big Burn. Born in Fiji, raised in New Zealand, and formed musically in the dance music revolution of London in the late 90’s, FreQ Nasty started his career on the seminal UK Bass label Botchit and Scarper and moved to SKINT/Sony Records in 2003 alongside Fat Boy Slim, Dave Clarke and X-Press 2. Over the coming years, he went on to release a slew of cutting edge Breakbeat/Garage records collaborating with &/or remixing Fatboy Slim, Kelis, KRS One, Root Manuva, Rodney P and Reggae legend Junior Delgado and becoming a fixture of the global Electronic Music scene. 2008 saw the release of both ‘Creator’, a collaboration with MIA producer Switch and Santigold that launched Santigold’s career, and his FABRIC LIVE 42 mix CD released on London nightclub Fabric label, a club where FreQ held a multi-year DJ residency.
The 2010’s saw FreQ focusing his energies on meditation and Yoga becoming a teacher of the Tibetan Buddhist and Yoga traditions. This led to a series of workshops around the intersection of music and meditation which he has shared at festivals, studios and events around the world. FreQ Nasty is now back in the Studio with a fresh album ready to release and is touring Australia to share his music.
We are super excited to be having him come and throw down some bass heavy badness at the Pot Belly. A gig at the Pot Belly means we can go all night and stack the support lineup. Been a while between Pot Belly gigs and boy are we excited we don’t need to try and find the kick-ons at 2am.
