Forgotten Ancient Wisdom for Modern Wellbeing

You are invited to a public talk by Dr Ringland about her recent book “Healing through Indigenous Wisdom”, which grew out of her 2017 social work PhD studying Indigenous and Western science perspectives on trauma healing. She has worked in government and NGOs and taught courses such as “Indigenous Science Research Methods” at the University of Peace.

And as an Indigenous East Frisian (and Jewish-Sumerian) woman who is the first generation born off her traditional lands, she brings lived experience to her message.

Valerie will share stories and insights from her journey exploring Indigenous healing practices, including:

Foundations of Indigenous science and its spiritually holistic worldview;
How connecting with traditional wisdom can help reduce stress and improve wellbeing;
Simple practices you can incorporate into your daily routine;
Powerful experiences of belonging that come from honoring ancestral knowledge.

There are two 1 hour talks by Valerie with Q&A at the Nan Tien Markets in Wollongong on Saturday May 3rd, at 11am and 1pm.

“Healing through Indigenous Wisdom: A Year Around the Medicine Wheel” is an accessible 52-week knowledge-sharing and practical guide that supports readers to embrace an authentic Indigenous cosmological framework.

Dr Ringland will be available to sign books you buy on the day.
