"Health and the Law: Leadership in HIV/Aids and Blood Borne Viruses”

This session is the 9th of 10 sessions in the 2022 series: The Future of Health and Social Care Industries.The aim of this series is to have industry experts present their views and experience of the future direction of health and social care environments from a managerial and leadership perspective.

In this seminar, 'Health and the Law: Leadership in HIV/Aids and Blood Borne Viruses' we will hear from industry expert Aaron Cogle, Executive Director of NAPWHA, the National Association for People with HIV Australia.

Aaron is a lawyer by training and has worked in the HIV sector for nearly 20 years and has an academic background in Policy, Corporate Law and, increasingly, how HIV intersects with the Criminal System. Aaron will talk about leading change for improvements through the intersection of the heath and law sectors, and the challenges this presents. NAPWHA is also a partner with UTS on an exciting new research to practice project on the legal needs of people HIV and Hepatitis B led by UTS Law.

This session will draw both on Aaron’s many years of experience in the HIV sector both here and in the UK. His expertise lies in both HIV and intersectional legal and advocacy work. Aaron will participate in a short Q&A after his presentation.

Please note that this session will be delivered face-to-face but with a Zoom option available for those who cannot make it in person. This session will also be recorded and may be uploaded online.
