In this second Health Economics Roundtable for 2021, we will bring together leaders from across the health and medical research pipeline and from federal and state governments to discuss how a move towards value-based care might improve research translation – delivering improvements for both patients and Australia’s health system.

There is growing interest in alternate ways to fund healthcare, with many in government and the health sector exploring value-based care models. The National Hospital Reform Agreement Addendum 2020-25 sets a pathway for long term reform. Value-based care aims to align payment incentives with health system objectives to achieve better value by driving improvements in quality and slowing growth in spending. This Roundtable will explore value-based care and its implications for the health and medical research community.
