Event description

As our global oceans are facing growing pressures, seabirds are at the forefront feeling the impact. From plastic debris to chemical spills, marine pollution threatens the health of the seabirds that call our coasts home. Join Elliot for a short talk that explores the main sources of marine pollution around Tasmania, how it affects our seabird species, and the practical steps we can take, together, to be a part of the solution.

Elliot Styles is a recent IMAS marine science graduate, with hands-on experience in avian ecological fieldwork across Tasmania and beyond. Elliot's recent Honours thesis focused on the colour preferences of Tasmanian seabirds, and how this knowledge can be better applied in reducing seabird mortality which stems from plastic pollution and fisheries operations.
