Our 2025 Healthy Edible Gardening series starts off with this introduction to organic gardening workshop. This will set you up with the fundamentals of growing plants without synthetic chemicals or artificial fertilisers, with an overview of soil health, plant selection, and natural pest management methods. You'll also explore techniques for sustainable food growing, creating resources with less, and cultivating a thriving productive garden ecosystem. 

This session will include some practical aspects so place where suitable clothes for working outside and covered shoes. Please bring gloves if you have some.

What we provide:

  • An experienced knowledgeable educator with horticultural qualifications
  • Hands on experience in a small space edible garden (use of materials and tools)
  • Seeds/ plant to take home
  • Small group to learn with and share information 
  • Morning tea

Who: This workshop is provided free to residents of the Inner West local government area. This is presented by the Inner West Green Living Centre, an initiative of Inner West Council and as numbers are limited, the workshop gives preference to residents of Inner West Council area. Search by address at Find Your Local Council - Office of Local Government NSW website to find your local government area, if you're unsure. Proof of residential address will be required. Please join the waitlist if you live outside the area and we will let you know if a spot becomes available.

Accessibility: If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully please let us know. The site is accessible via paved pathways with a slight slope from street to buildings and contains an accessible toilet.
