The key to successful gardening is healthy soil.

Learn some easy ways to achieve optimum soil quality in your garden using organic techniques.

This workshop will cover understanding soil, such as:

Identify parent material (Clay, Sand or loam) and soil type
Checking structure- how much organic matter, texture, moisture levels
Undertake pH test. Is your soil alkaline or acidic? What key nutrients are available?

There will also be a practical component demonstrating how to make compost and set up a worm farm and other methods to improve the quality of your soil.

Please wear covered shoes and comfortable clothes to participant in hands on activities outside.

Accessibility: If you have any access or support requirements in order to participate fully, please let us know. The venue is wheelchair accessible, and has an accessible toilet, lift access to the library car park and a hearing loop is available.

This workshop is presented by Inner West Council. Entry is free for residents of the Inner West Council area and priority will be given to Inner West residents.
