Healthy Land, Healthy Horses Workshop
Event description
Internationally acclaimed author and expert on horse property management, Stuart Myers will deliver a workshop aimed at horse owners that either own land, lease land, or keep their horse/s on agistment (so that’s everyone who owns or manages a horse!). Learn how to make small or large changes in horse and land management that improve the ‘lifestyle’ of horses and people and at the same time benefit the environment. A true win-win-win situation.Â
Pasture management principles are similar for large or small horse properties. The main objective is improving soil health and at the same time growing the correct grasses and other pasture species in order to reduce the feed bill, whilst maintaining good groundcover, reducing erosion and run off into waterways, reducing the worm (parasite) burden of horses and controlling weeds. Horse owners who attend the workshop will learn all about these important subjects and much more besides. Maintaining ground cover, protecting water sources, increasing biodiversity and soil health are some of our key messages.
Morning tea and lunch provided.
This program received funding from the Australian Government’s Future Drought Fund.
