Healthy Soils for Cropping | Bremer
Event description
Healthy soils are the foundation of productive cropping systems.
The Healthy Soils for Cropping two-workshop series is designed for crop farmers to learn about soil health, fertility, and nutrient management with the aim of improving crop yield and long-term soil performance. Whether you’re growing crops, fodder, or managing mixed production systems, this session will help you make informed decisions to build soil resilience and support future productivity.
Free soil testing and analysis will be provided for participants.
Join experienced agricultural consultant David Hall as he breaks down the core principles of soil health and fertility, including how soil structure, organic matter, biology, and nutrient balance all work together to support crop performance.
Workshop one will focus on:
What makes soil healthy – structure, biology, nutrients, and more.
Matching nutrient inputs to crop needs without over- or under-applying.
Workshop two - following a round of fully funded landholder soil tests - will cover:
How to read and interpret soil test reports, including your individual soil test results.
Key findings from the soil tests in the region and how to manage soils based on these findings.
Practical tips for managing soil fertility to support sustainable cropping.
Spots are limited, so register quickly!
