WHC 45 Years: Heart Berry Community Picnic

2026 marks a powerful milestone for Women’s Health Clinic (WHC): 45 years of inclusive feminist, pro-choice health care in Winnipeg.

Join us as we celebrate 45 years of WHC and envision the next 45 together. As we mark this anniversary, we’re reflecting on it all: the hard histories, the resilience, the advocacy, the ongoing challenges, the collective action, and the heart work. 

WHC’s commitment to intersectional feminist, client-centred care and harm reduction has shaped our programs and services across generations. We’ve provided access to sexual health, reproductive health, and abortion care and counselling. Our reproductive care has grown to include midwifery services, family programs, education, and community outreach. We provide care for people across experiencing pregnancy loss, infant loss, and babies born to spirit.  We’ve been at the forefront of anti-oppressive eating disorder support for youth and adults across the province.  

All community members are welcome as our guests. Just like our clinic, despite having ‘women’ in our name, we welcome people of all genders.

Performances by:

Binesi Ikwéwag Singers - an all ikwé and ikwé identified ceremonial drum group. Formed in July 2023, it is an alliance to bring healing and awareness to the ongoing concern of violence against Indigenous women.

Rey - a Cree artist who blends R&B, New Age Indigenous soul/blues, and hip hop.

Tayler LeClaire - a Red River Métis fiddle player whos work supports the preservation and sharing of Métis culture and musical traditions.

DJ Wanda G - Her performances are defined as the output of expression through sound—experience, emotion, and feeling

A vibrant quilt trunk show featuring handcrafted pieces, by Carol D, Dr. Carol S, Claudette D, Diane C, Erika K, Olga W, Val S. Explore diverse patterns, fabrics, and traditions while artists share inspiration, stories, process, and tips. Guided by the quilters, try your hand at learning a quilting technique.

Collage Making Workshop by ArtsJunktion
Artsjunktion is a creative reuse organization that exists to increase opportunities for making and creating, reducing environmental impact, and being in good relationship with community. We provide accessible materials, skill-building, community, and space to those who want to make and create sustainably. We also provide opportunities for radical sharing for all.

Mini Market Makers

Anishinaabe Girl Designs (Shauna Fontaine)
Shauna Fontaine, a member of Sagkeeng First Nation based in Winnipeg, is the designer behind Anishinaabe Girl Designs, creating jewellery which blends contemporary fashion with Indigenous artistry in what she calls “urban boujee chic.” Shauna has spent more that two decades crafting her art and preserving her indigenous heritage. Her passion is illustrated through intricate designs and commitment to personal artistic development and transmission of culture. With over 20 years of experience, she mentors Indigenous artists and showcases both her own work as well as other local makers in her boutique at 165 Lilac.
