Heart Beat: first aid training (45+)
Event description
Would you know what to do in an emergency?
Half of all drowning deaths in WA involve adults aged 45 and over. In a critical situation, immediate first aid and CPR can mean the difference between life and death.
The Heart Beat 45+ program, delivered by Royal Life Saving WA, is designed to equip adults with essential lifesaving skills. This free community education session provides hands-on training in first aid and CPR, helping you feel confident to respond in an emergency.
What will you learn?
This session covers key first aid skills, including how to respond to:
-
Cardiac arrest – Recognising the signs and performing CPR
-
Sunstroke and heat exhaustion – Preventing and treating heat-related illness
-
Choking – Responding quickly and effectively
-
Hypothermia – Understanding risks and providing first aid
-
Shock and bleeding – Managing injuries and preventing further harm
-
Bites and stings – Handling reactions to venomous bites and stings
Who is this session for?
This training is ideal for adults aged 45 and over, carers, community members, or anyone wanting to refresh their first aid knowledge. Like any skill, first aid can be forgotten if not practised regularly—this session is a great way to keep your skills up to date.
